David’s Prayer for Deliverance
O Lord my God, in You I take refuge and put my trust; save me from all those who pursue and persecute me, and deliver me, (Psalm 7:1 Amplified)
Urgency in Prayer
Lest my foe tear my life [from my body] like a lion, dragging me away while there is none to deliver. (Psalm 7:2 Amplified)
The Lord sometimes allows circumstances to come against us so that we can wake up to the urgency of prayer.
David knew the damage a lion was capable of doing if the Lord was not on his side.
Apostle Peter wrote
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8)
The devil is also described as a roaring and devouring lion. From this one can understand the urgency of David’s prayer.
15 He made a pit and hollowed it out and has fallen into the hole which he made [before the trap was completed]. 16 His mischief shall fall back in return upon his own head, and his violence come down [with the loose dirt] upon his own scalp. (Psalm 7:15-16 Amplified) God frequently visits the wicked with the same tragedy that they had planned for the righteous. This is God's method of enforcing justice.
The fate of Haman the enemy of Mordecai and the Jews (Esther 7:7-10), and Daniel's adversaries in the lion's den are two among several examples in the Bible (Daniel 6:24).
