Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4)
When you delight yourself in the Lord. His presence does not become a kind of painful duty that you must do. It becomes a delight.
That does not mean simply that God will do for us everything that we might wish or think. The desires of our own carnal are often warped and perverted. If God were to satisfy these desires, the final outcome would do us more harm than good.
To delight ourselves in the Lord means that our personal relationship with the Lord becomes the most important thing in our lives. It takes precedence over all other relationships and over all other forms of satisfaction. This is the place our very desires are sanctified. Now you only begin to desire what is in line with His will. Then He grants you those desires.
A little that a righteous man has
Is better than the riches of many wicked. (Psalm 37:16)
With God even little is much. Lord Jesus only had 5 loaves and two fish and it was much because the blessing of the Lord was upon it.
The wicked borrows and does not repay (Psalm 37:21)
One of the signs of wickedness is borrowing and not repaying
What if everyone paid back everyone on time. I think there would be a change in the economic fabric of nations.
The law of his God is in his heart;
None of his steps shall slide. (Psalm 37:31)
The cure for backsliding is to put the law of God into our hearts
