Blessed be the Lord my Rock,
Who trains my hands for war,
And gives my fingers skill for battle (Psalm 144:1)
Your God-given mission on this planet will necessitate spiritual battle on your part. To fight this spiritual battle, God will prepare you and teach you how to do so. This, however, will entail spending time in His presence.
The disadvantage is that your flesh despises waiting. It is looking for movement and activity. Waiting in God’s presence forces the flesh to die.
I will sing a new song to You, O God;
On a harp of ten strings I will sing praises (Zamar) to You, (Psalm 144:9)
Take note that the term 'Zamar' means 'praise' in the Hebrew language. ‘‘Zamar’ is instrumental praise. Music has the ability to attract God's people into praise and worship in a tremendous way. David possessed exceptional musical ability (1 Samuel 16:18).
God, on the other hand, does not take pleasure in "worship" brought to Him in the form of music when the hearts of the people are filled with hypocrisy. God demands a pure heart from those who minister to Him in music and lead God’s people in praise and worship. In Amos, we read that God despised the temple music because of the condition of the people’s hearts.
Take away from Me the noise of your songs,
For I will not hear the melody of your stringed instruments. (Amos 5:23)
David prayed for a series of blessings to be bestowed to God's people when God dealt with the evil speakers in their midst.
a].Blessings upon the children
May our sons flourish in their youth
like well-nurtured plants.
May our daughters be like graceful pillars,
carved to beautify a palace. (Psalm 144:12)
b].Blessings upon the work of their hands
May our barns be filled
with crops of every kind.
May the flocks in our fields multiply by the thousands,
even tens of thousands,
and may our oxen be loaded down with produce.
Blessed with safety and peace in the community (Psalm 144:13-14)
c].Blessings upon the Community
May there be no enemy breaking through our walls,
no going into captivity,
no cries of alarm in our town squares. (Psalm 144:14)
